Installation Guide of NTOP

We use NTOP to monitor the network traffic which run on UNIX/Linux platform. Openxtra from UK translate it to Windows platform, and rename it as NTOP-XTRA.

The download address is http://www.openxtra.co.uk/downloads/ntop-download.php, after download it, find a windows machine to install it.

Before install it, we should configure switch in advance, port mirrior, etc.

The process of installation is simple, just click "Next". At the end of it, we need to start NTOP service. We need to click "Program" - "OpenXtra Commander", and click "NTOP Service", then the service is start.

All NTOP parameter are configured through WEB UI. We just need click "Launch" to open WEB UI, or we open browser and keyin address of "http://hostname:3000".

In WEB UI, we open "All Protocols" - "Traffic", then we can monitor all network traffic.

In "Traffic", we could choose Local Only from Hosts. In "Data" column, choose "Received Only", the we can know which computers are download much data. Usually, we could use it for small office (SOHO).
