WSUS need prvilege access directory

Windows Software Update Service WSUS is use to provide software service locally. Local PCs can get update packs from local server rather than query Microsoft update site.

In SWPG project scenario, there was a Windows 2003 based WSUS server, which was a member of Active Domain AD. I promoted the server as Domain Controller DC recently, and then I found there were some errors.

When I opened WSUS admin console page, there was an error message said it couldn’t storage temp file, so console page couldn’t be opened normally.

I searched the error message in Google, and found some useful articles. According they described, the error message was generated for privilege lack. The anonymous account which visitors used to access the site lost access privilege in some special WSUS directory, so the site couldn’t be displayed right.

After read these articles, I realized what I should do next. First of all, I assure the anonymous account in IIS. Then, I add the privilege in the special WSUS directory.

At last, I opened the WSUS site again. This time, the page displayed rightly!
